Show Notes

  • Serious car accidents and income loss: After serious car accidents, some individuals can incur financial losses due to an inability to work. It is not always apparent what the full extent of an individual’s injuries are as well as the entirety of income loss. Individuals do not have to accept an initial offer from an insurance company in terms of a settlement. It is important to hire an experienced personal injury lawyer and file a claim within two years after the date of the accident.
  • Speaking to a doctor after an accident: It is very important for individuals to speak to their treating doctors or medical team after an accident occurs. Medical reports provide evidence for claimants to pursue a claim for accident benefits.
  • Advocating for your own medical needs: Injured parties in a car accident must ensure they are advocating for themselves with their medical team. Doctors and other medical practitioners can recommend treatments that are not viable for individuals or are ineffective. Claimants should keep a steady stream of communication with their doctor throughout treatment. Medical records must be up to date and demonstrate what ailments a claimant is suffering from.
  • Section B benefits: Individuals are able to access Section B benefits in the event of a car accident, regardless of fault. Significant compensation can be accessed if injuries are serious, such as traumatic head injuries. It is important for injured parties to be aware of certain deadlines to pursue benefits. After an accident occurs, claimants have up to thirty days to contact the Section B benefits provider. There are also some forms that must be completed within ninety days.
