Intermediate Legal Assistant – Vancouver

Samfiru Tumarkin LLP is a busy and fast-growing litigation firm with offices in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario. We specialize in employment law, as well as personal injury and disability law.

For our Vancouver office, we’re looking for a permanent, full-time legal assistant with at least three years of plaintiff-focused experience, particularly in the civil litigation process, including the Supreme Court Civil / Small Claims Rules at the British Columbia Supreme Court and Provincial Court levels.

Experience in employment law would be considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in civil litigation (employment law experience an asset)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Keen organizational ability
  • Flexibility to work independently or as part of a team
  • The ability to prioritize and meet urgent deadlines

Some of the tasks that you would be responsible for include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

  • Preparing court documents to be filed and served
  • Filing of court documents
  • Booking mediations, examinations, pre-trials, etc.
  • Editing correspondence and forwarding same to opposing counsel, clients etc.
  • Booking calls for the lawyers
  • Serving documents on opposing counsel

We’re looking for someone who’s responsive, eager to learn, adaptable, and enjoys a fast-paced, and fun, environment.

The right candidate will be someone who can assist with all administrative duties from filing to handling trust transactions, and is also very familiar with scheduling mediations, examinations, and pre-trials.

Samfiru Tumarkin LLP is in a hybrid working model. This position is fully remote (with the option of going to the office).

The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $65,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and is part of a competitive total compensation package.

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Samfiru Tumarkin LLP aims to align internal salary ranges for specific roles to similar positions in the external market.
