Car crushed: Woman hurt after 3-vehicle Hwy. 400 crash in Vaughan

A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a serious three-vehicle collision on Highway 400 in Vaughan.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stated in a Jan. 20 post on X (formerly Twitter) that the incident took place in the southbound express lanes of the highway at Highway 7.

• OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a red vehicle was rear-ended by a tow truck — causing it to collide with a pickup truck.
• Footage of the scene shows significant damage to the front and back of the red vehicle.
• The driver of a the red vehicle, a woman, is being treated in hospital. Fortunately, OPP said her injuries aren’t serious.
• Motorists were able to pass the collision on Highway 400 in the southbound collector lanes.

Investigation updates

The cause of the multi-vehicle collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
