TPS: Woman dead after vehicle plunges into water at Ashbridges Bay
Incident details
A woman is dead after a vehicle left the road at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto and ended up in Lake Ontario.
- The Toronto Police Service (TPS) and other emergency crews responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Ashbridges Bay Park Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 19.
- A man and a woman were rescued from a vehicle that was submerged in the water. Both were taken to hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead.
- Officials didn’t provide specifics on the man’s condition.
- A TPS spokesperson told CBC News that four officers were also taken to hospital to be treated for “exposure to the elements.”
Investigation updates
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. It’s unclear who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.
TPS is asking anyone with information, including cellphone or dashcam footage, to contact them.
