980 CKNW – Vegan firefighter files human rights complaint
Vegan firefighter Adam Knauff has filed a complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. He alleges that his employer violated his rights by failing to provide appropriate vegan food options while he fought a wildfire near Williams Lake, B.C. in 2018.
Knauff was suspended without pay for three days after he reacted negatively to the lack of vegan options.
Is veganism a lifestyle choice that should be protected by the human rights code? Should employers be forced to accommodate vegan employees?
A Vancouver Employment Lawyer at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP examined the issue with Global News Radio 980 CKNW host Jon McComb.
