Trump delaying auto tariffs until April after chat with Trudeau, automakers

What’s happening?
A day after starting a trade war with Canada, U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to delay auto tariffs until April.
“At the request of the companies associated with USMCA, the president is giving them an exemption for one month so they are not at an economic disadvantage,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on March 5.
Leavitt added that the U.S. still plans to proceed with reciprocal tariffs on April 2.
The update comes after Trump had conversations with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as well as the CEOs of GM, Ford, and Stellantis.
