14-Year-Old Driver Seriously Hurt During Police Chase in Scarborough

On Sept. 21, 2025, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) — Ontario’s police watchdog — invoked its mandate following a collision that occurred during a police chase in Scarborough.

What Happened?
- In a news release, the SIU said a Toronto police officer in a “marked cruiser” attempted to stop a vehicle that was observed speeding before 1am ET on Sept. 21.
- “There was a collision involving the [suspect vehicle] and another vehicle at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue East and Kingston Road in Scarborough,” the release reads.
- The driver of the suspect vehicle, a 14-year-old male, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
- No serious injuries were reported for the 3 occupants in the other vehicle.

🔔 Anyone with information on the collision, including cellphone or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the SIU.
