Sharbot Lake crash: 1 dead, 5 injured in head-on collision on Highway 7

Sharbot Lake, ON – A tragic head-on collision on Highway 7 near Sharbot Lake (between Kingston and Ottawa) resulted in one fatality and left five others seriously injured late Monday evening, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Incident Details

The crash occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. near Arden Road. OPP officers from the Frontenac detachment responded to the scene. Both vehicles involved sustained heavy damage, with one vehicle leaving the highway and coming to rest down a steep embankment.

Victim Information

The collision involved a sedan traveling eastbound with two occupants and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) traveling westbound with four occupants. Unfortunately, one person from the SUV succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The identities of the individuals involved have not yet been released.

Injuries and Medical Response

Five individuals suffered serious injuries and were transported to various hospitals in the region. One passenger required extrication from the SUV by emergency responders.

Investigation and Road Closure

The highway was closed for approximately eight hours overnight as police conducted their investigation. At this time, no charges have been laid in connection with the accident.
