Semi driver killed in Hwy. 2 accident near Nanton, Southern Alberta

A tragic accident occurred early Wednesday morning on Highway 2 in southern Alberta, claiming the life of a 31-year-old semi-truck driver. The incident took place just northwest of Nanton, Alberta, around 5:30 a.m., leading to the closure of the highway in both directions between Township Road 170 and Township Road 164.

According to the Nanton RCMP, the semi-truck veered off the road and ended up in a ditch, where it spilled its contents—identified as ammonium nitrate—across the surrounding area. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The RCMP expressed their condolences to the victim’s family and friends in a public statement.
