Saab Military Aircraft Opportunity Could Create 12,000+ Jobs in Canada
What’s Happening?
Saab AB wants to build dozens of its Gripen fighter jets and the GlobalEye surveillance planes Canada — expected to create approximately 12,600 jobs.
“Saab [delivered] a very attractive proposal to the Canadian government that has strong industrial development and job-creation aspects to it.” Industry Minister Mélanie Joly told The Globe and Mail on Dec. 16.
Joly added that there’s “more work to be done” before Prime Minister Mark Carney makes a decision on the Swedish company’s proposal.
The update comes as Ottawa considers purchasing F-35 stealth fighter jets made by US-based Lockheed Martin.
