Is Rogers Closing Radio Stations?
Yes. The media arm of Rogers Communications, Rogers Sports and Media, is closing 6 radio stations — affecting as many as 230 jobs.
Here are the stations being closed:
- Vancouver’s 1130 AM
- Sportsnet 650 in Vancouver
- Calgary’s 660 NewsRadio
- Sportsnet 960 in Calgary
- Kitchener’s 570 NewsRadio
- Halifax’s 95.7 NewsRadio
A spokesperson for the Canadian telecom giant said the decision was driven by “declining advertising revenue and changing audience habits.”
