Is Rogers Closing Radio Stations?

Yes. The media arm of Rogers Communications, Rogers Sports and Media, is closing 6 radio stations — affecting as many as 230 jobs.

Here are the stations being closed:

  • Vancouver’s 1130 AM
  • Sportsnet 650 in Vancouver
  • Calgary’s 660 NewsRadio
  • Sportsnet 960 in Calgary
  • Kitchener’s 570 NewsRadio
  • Halifax’s 95.7 NewsRadio

A spokesperson for the Canadian telecom giant said the decision was driven by “declining advertising revenue and changing audience habits.”
