What’s happening?

The East Region detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reporting a concerning increase in the number of impaired driving incidents.

On March 12, officials said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that 327 drivers have been arrested and charged so far in 2025 — compared to 319 at the same time last year.

“We know impaired driving can be deadly,” a quote from OPP East Region Commander Lisa Wilhelm reads.

“We encourage every driver to consider the potential impact of their actions on their own lives and the lives of everyone else on the road. Never drive impaired.”
