OPP: 50 Vehicles Involved in Hwy. 401 Collisions Near Quinte West

What Happened?

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) claim approximately 50 vehicles were involved in multi-vehicle collisions on Highway 401 near Quinte West on Jan. 27, 2026.

“We’re so thrilled to report that — thankfully — there were no serious or fatal injuries,” OPP Sgt. Erin Cranton said in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter).

“It’s a very clear reminder to slow down and give space between you and the vehicle in front of you.”

According to officials, 3-4 individuals were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Investigation Updates

The collisions remain under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
