February Freezing Drizzle: OPP Respond to “Dozens” of GTA Crashes
What Happened?
On Feb. 21, 2026, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) shared on X (formerly Twitter) that “dozens of collisions” had been reported across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) as freezing drizzle wreaked havoc on major roadways and side streets.
“No reports of any serious injuries [at this time],” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video update.
“We’re seeing very slippery conditions. Please slow down and drive within your abilities.”
Dozens of collisions reported in the north east area of the GTA.
