Driver, 46, dead after multi-vehicle crash on Hwy. 93 north of Barrie
Incident details
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision that took place around Highway 93 and Highway 400, north of Barrie.
- Just after 7 a.m. ET on Dec. 18, OPP posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Penetanguishene Road was closed between Highway 93 and Flos Road 4 East for a crash.
- One of the three drivers, a 46-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- A 25-year-old behind the wheel of one of the other two vehicles was taken to hospital as a precaution. Their injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.
- The remaining driver, whose age wasn’t disclosed, was treated for minor injuries at the scene before being released by officials.

Investigation updates
The cause of the three-vehicle collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
