Ontario doctor disciplined over social media post: Employment lawyer talks with CTV News
The conduct of several Ontario doctors has come into question after participating in protests and sharing posts on social media. Due to ongoing geo-political turmoil, reports of rising anti-semitism and islamophobia have been reported. Employment experts propose caution for workplaces and employers, to prevent further negative consequences.
Aaron Levitin, an Alberta employment lawyer and Associate at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP spoke with CTV News about social media policies at work and how employers and employees can protect themselves from further legal action.
“Employees should be mindful of what they are posting because it could have a significant impact in terms of their employment,” Levitin said. “And employers need to monitor to make sure they are keeping their workplace safe for all staff and clients.”
