980 CFPL – Ontario Bill Steps Up Against High Heels

High heel ban

Women in Ontario would be protected from being required to wear high heels at work under a bill being introduced Tuesday.

The private member’s bill from Liberal MPP Cristina Martins would amend the province’s Occupational Health and Safety Act to prohibit employers from mandating workers to wear unsafe footwear as part of dress and uniform codes.

Lior Samfiru, partner at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, joined Global News Radio 980 CFPL, where the Toronto Employment Lawyer explained why a private member’s bill targeting high heels in the workplace benefits vulnerable employees.
