Nike Facing DEI Probe, Allegedly Discriminated Against “White People”
What’s Happening at Nike?
Nike is being investigated following allegations that the sportswear giant’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts have discriminated against “White” employees and job applicants.
The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is seeking information — going back to 2018 — on:
- The criteria Nike used to select employees for job cuts
- How Nike uses the ethnicity data of staff and job applicants, including whether it factors into executive compensation
- 16 internal programs that allegedly offered race‑restricted mentoring, leadership, career‑development opportunities, etc.
Nike isn’t the only major employer that officials have their eyes on. Starbucks has also been accused of DEI practices that have excluded White employees.
