What’s going on at Marriott?

Marriott International (Marriott) has eliminated more than 800 corporate positions — calling it a much-needed “reorganization” of its global structure.

During the company’s third-quarter earnings call, CEO Anthony Capuano alluded to an “enterprise-wide process to enhance our effectiveness and efficiency.”

According to news outlets, including CNBC, the majority of the job cuts affect the “above property” level. Service levels at Marriott-branded hotels aren’t impacted.

According to LinkedIn, the company employs nearly 2,000 people in the country.
