1 Dead After Multi-Vehicle Hwy. 402 Crash in London’s South End

Incident Details

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving a transport truck, SUV, and minivan on Highway 402 in London’s south end.

• The incident took place in the eastbound lanes of the highway between Colonel Talbot Road and Wonderland Road South before 12:30pm ET on July 4.
• “So far, it’s been determined that an SUV was travelling westbound on Highway 402, crossed over into the eastbound lanes and collided with a minivan. That SUV then collided with a transport truck and ultimately that SUV came to rest in [a ditch],” OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in video posted on X (formerly Twitter).
• 4 people were transported to hospital. Officials said one of the minivan’s occupants, an 87-year-old man from Sarnia, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Investigation Updates

The cause of the multi-vehicle collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
