1 Driver Dead, 1 Hurt After Vehicles Launch Off Hwy. 7 Flyover Ramp in Kitchener

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating after 2 vehicles launched off the westbound Highway 7 flyover ramp in Kitchener on Jan. 26, 2026.

What Happened?

• The first incident took place around 2am ET on Jan. 26. The driver of a taxi cab lost control of their vehicle and ended up on Highway 8.
• “It was further down the ramp, so it wasn’t a massive drop,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told CBC News — adding that the individual’s injuries aren’t considered serious.
• The second incident took place around 7:30am ET. The driver of the second vehicle, a 38-year-old woman from Waterloo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
