Tractor-Trailer Driver, 29, Dead After 3-Vehicle Hwy. 401 Crash in Clarington

On Sept. 29, 2025, the driver of a tractor-trailer was pronounced dead following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Clarington — a municipality east of Oshawa.

What Happened?
- The incident — involving 3 “transport trucks” — took place in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Highway 418 around 6am ET on Sept. 29.
- “Traffic was stopped and slowed down for collision closure at Liberty Street. A [tractor-trailer] rear-ended a stopped transport truck in lane 3, then continued on sideswiping another transport truck in lane 3,” Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
- The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 29-year-old man from Brampton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- No other injuries have been reported at this time.
