1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After Back-to-Back Hwy. 11 Crashes North of Timmins
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating back-to-back crashes on Highway 11 near Smooth Rock Falls — a township north of Timmins — on March 7, 2026.
What Happened?
- The collisions took place on the highway between Red Pine Road and Lookout Road. The first crash occurred around 5:30am ET on March 7.
- Photos of the scene show damage to tractor-trailers and a dark-coloured Dodge Ram.
- According to OPP, 1 person was pronounced dead in the second crash. Another individual was taken to hospital in serious condition.
- Highway 11 was closed for several hours from Cochrane to Hearst.
Investigation Updates
The cause of the collisions remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
