Eddie Bauer Bankruptcy: What Canadian Employees Need to Know
Has Eddie Bauer Filed for Bankruptcy?
Not at this time. Eddie Bauer is reportedly preparing to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and shutter all of its North American stores.
This isn’t the first time that the retailer has been on the brink. In June 2005, the company successfully restructured and emerged from bankruptcy protection.
Eddie Bauer currently employs more than 260 people in Canada, according to LinkedIn.

Our Advocacy: The Sears Act
At Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, we saw first-hand how employees at Sears Canada lost their jobs, severance, and pensions during the company’s bankruptcy.
That’s why we’re leading the call for the Sears Act — proposed legislation that would:
- Give employees secured creditor status in bankruptcies
- Ensure employees are paid first, before banks and landlords
