Driver critical following head-on collision northeast of Belleville

A driver has been rushed to hospital following a head-on collision in the Township of Tyendinaga — northeast of Belleville.

The incident took place on Shannonville Road between Shannon Road and Scuttlehole Road before 7:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 5.

“One person had to be extricated from a vehicle by firefighters,” Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“The lone occupant of one vehicle was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The three people in the other vehicle suffered only minor injuries.”

Investigation updates

The cause of the head-on collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
