OPP investigating fatal Hwy. 401 collision near Quinte West
Incident details
Two people in their 20s and an infant are dead following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Quinte West.
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say emergency crews responded to a crash in the westbound lanes of the highway just after County Road 40 interchange around 1:15 p.m. ET on Nov. 9.
- According to officials, a minivan collided with the rear of a tractor trailer.
- A 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman from Quebec were pronounced dead at the scene.
- Two children in the minivan, a four-year-old and an eight-month-old, were rushed to hospital.
- While the four-year-old child remains in serious condition, the eight-month-old succumbed to their injuries.
- No injuries were reported for the driver of the tractor trailer.
Investigation updates
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
