900 CHML – Care home ordered to re-hire nurse who stole drugs, falsified records

An Ontario arbitrator has ordered a long-term care home to re-hire and financially compensate a nurse who was fired after stealing opiate drugs and falsifying records.

Did the arbitrator make the right decision? Should an employer be forced to accommodate an employee suffering from a drug addiction who engaged in workplace misconduct?

Employment lawyer Jon Pinkus, associate at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, joined host Scott Radley on Global News Radio 900 CHML in Hamilton to discuss the employer’s Duty to Accommodate.
