On August 8, 2025, a 2018 BMW M5 fleeing a traffic stop crashed along 58 Avenue S.W. in Calgary’s Windsor Park neighbourhood, damaging seven parked vehicles. Police say the driver, a 19-year-old man, is facing multiple charges, including impaired driving and failing to comply with a release order.

What Happened

Calgary Police say the crash occurred around 2:10 a.m. Friday. The BMW was travelling northbound on Macleod Trail S.W. at high speed when the driver attempted to turn westbound onto 58 Avenue S.W. while fleeing a traffic stop.

The vehicle struck the rear of a parked car, triggering a chain reaction that damaged seven parked vehicles along the street. The BMW was also damaged.

Police identified the driver as Kane Anignostis Burrows, 19, and confirmed he has been charged with:

  • Two impaired driving offences
  • Two counts of failing to comply with a release order

Burrows appeared in court on Monday and is scheduled to return on August 18 for both this case and a previous one.

Background: Previous Fatal Crash

Court records show Burrows was already facing charges from a December 2024 crash along Glenmore Trail, minutes from this most recent scene. In that incident:

  • A high-end BMW struck a parked crane
  • An 18-year-old passenger was killed
  • Another passenger suffered serious injuries

In March 2025, Burrows was charged with impaired driving causing death and several other offences. His release conditions included no alcohol consumption and no driving.

Location Context

Windsor Park sits just west of Macleod Trail and north of Glenmore Trail, with a mix of residential streets and busy commuter routes. Overnight street parking, sharp turns, and high traffic volumes can make this area especially risky if a driver is speeding or loses control.
