Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving a black BMW and a tractor-trailer on Highway 48 in Georgina.

• The incident took place on the highway around High Street before 11am ET on June 13.
• Footage of the scene shared by CTV News showed the BMW behind the tractor-trailer. There was significant damage to the driver’s side of the BMW.
• According to reports, the driver of the BMW, a 31-year-old man from Georgina, was pronounced dead at the scene.
• Highway 48 was closed in both directions between Park Road and Ravenshoe Road for several hours.

Investigation Updates

The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
