Niagara police are investigating a fatal collision involving a black Audi S5 — that was allegedly stolen — and a grey Chevrolet Malibu in downtown St. Catharines.

• The incident took place at the intersection of Welland Avenue and Ontario Street before 10:20 p.m. ET on March 19.
• Officials believe the Audi S5 collided with the Chevrolet Malibu at the intersection.
• The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu, a 31-year-old man from St. Catharines, was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
• The driver of the Audi S5 fled the scene on foot. Investigators believe the suspect suffered a significant head injury — resulting in blood loss.
• Police reopened the intersection of Welland Avenue and Ontario Street before 7 a.m. ET on March 20.
