2 people hurt after car, transport truck collide on Hwy. 401 in Clarington
Incident details
Two people have been taken to hospital after a car and a transport truck collided on Highway 401 in Clarington—east of Oshawa.
The incident took place on the highway near Courtice Road around 3:25 a.m. ET on Dec. 1.
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) believe the transport truck was slowing in the right lane of traffic when the car rear-ended the vehicle and lost control.
- Footage of the scene shows significant damage to a white car.
- Const. Taylor Konkle told reporters that the driver of the car “suffered minor injuries, passenger was taken to trauma centre with critical injuries.”
- The highway was temporarily closed at Courtice Road.
Investigation updates
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
