Man, 51, Dead Following Hwy. 89 Crash Southwest of Barrie

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision on Highway 89 in Cookstown — southwest of Barrie.
- The incident, which involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle, took place on the highway near 6th Line and County Road 56 around 2:30pm ET on June 16.
- OPP told news outlets that a 51-year-old man from Alliston was pronounced dead at the scene. It wasn’t disclosed if they were a driver of a passenger.
- Highway 89 was closed for several hours around 6th Line and County Road 56.

The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
