1 dead, 1 seriously hurt after tractor-trailer crash northeast of Strathroy

Incident details
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving a dark-coloured SUV and a tractor-trailer northeast of Strathroy.
- Before 12:15 p.m. ET on April 24, OPP posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Egremont Drive between Hedley Road and Ilderton Road was closed for the crash.
- “One of the drivers was rushed to hospital with serious injuries…unfortunately, the other driver was pronounced dead at the scene,” OPP Cst. Jeff Hare said in a video on X.
- A photo of the scene shows the tractor-trailer left partially in a ditch while the dark-coloured SUV ended up on its roof in a field.
- Motorists were asked to avoid the area.

Investigation updates
The cause of the fatal two-vehicle collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
