Driver hospitalized after head-on Hwy. 11 crash north of Timmins

The driver of a passenger vehicle is recovering in hospital following a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Highway 11, north of Timmins.

• Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the incident took place on the highway “near the rail crossing in Driftwood” in the evening on Feb. 26.
• “The driver of the passenger vehicle was extracted and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” the social media post reads.
• No injuries were reported for the driver of the tractor-trailer.
• OPP said this stretch of Highway 11 fully reopened after “about four hours.”

Investigation updates

The cause of the head-on collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
