Driver, 81, dead after striking multiple vehicles south of Ottawa

An 81-year-old man is dead after colliding with two vehicles near Kemptville — south of Ottawa.
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the incident took place on County Road 43 near Van Buren Street just after 5:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 17.
- According to reports, the 81-year-old man — travelling eastbound — crossed the centre line, sideswiping one vehicle before colliding head-on with a second vehicle.
- The 81-year-old man, a resident of Kemptville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- OPP said the two other drivers are being treated for injuries. Their condition isn’t life-threatening.
- The affected stretch of County Road 43 reopened shortly after midnight on Jan. 18.
Investigation updates
The cause of the fatal three-vehicle collision remains under investigation.
