Sudbury school bus crash on Hwy. 69 leaves 8 people hurt

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a serious collision involving a school bus at the Richard Lake hill in Sudbury.

• Officials said a commercial vehicle collided with a school bus transporting students on Highway 69 around 8:45 a.m. ET on Jan. 20.
• “Eight people were transported to the local hospital by EMS — five students as a precaution, two students received serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, while the bus driver received serious life-threatening injuries,” OPP told news outlets, including INsauga.
• Highway 69 was closed in both directions at Crown Ridge Road (at the entrance to the Carol Campsite) to Highway 537.

Investigation updates

The cause of the two-vehicle collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
