Man, child dead following head-on collision near CFB Trenton
Incident details
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving a car and pickup truck near the eastern edge of Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton.
- OPP responded to reports of a head-on crash on Old Highway 2 near Quinte View Drive around 3:45 p.m. ET on Jan. 14.
- The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man from Stirling, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a five-year-old boy, was rushed to hospital.
- Despite efforts to treat the child, he was later pronounced dead.
- The driver of the pickup truck was also transported to hospital. The severity of their injuries wasn’t disclosed.
- Old Highway 2 was closed between RCAF Road and Whites Road for several hours.
Investigation updates
The cause of the fatal two-vehicle collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
