Fiery single-vehicle crash near Smiths Falls claims life of 31-year-old

A 31-year-old man is dead following a single-vehicle crash on County Road 29 — south of Smiths Falls.

• Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a news release that emergency crews responded to the incident shortly after 3:30 a.m. ET on Jan. 1.
• The vehicle reportedly veered off the road, entered a ditch, and struck a tree before it caught fire.
• OPP said the sole occupant of the vehicle, a man from Jasper, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.
