Multi-vehicle Hwy. 401 collision involving cattle causes chaos in Kingston
Incident details
A driver transporting eight calves is facing charges following a multi-vehicle collision on highway 401 in Kingston.
- Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say the incident took place in a westbound lane of the highway near Joyceville Road around 7 a.m. ET on Oct. 18.
- The cattle trailer on the back of a small vehicle reportedly broke apart–causing a major crash that involved other passenger vehicles and large transport trucks.
- While none of the motorists involved in the collision were seriously hurt, the eight calves were treated for minor, road-rash-type injuries.
Investigation updates
Officials haven’t disclosed the charges that the cattle transporter is facing.
Anyone with information regarding the incident, including cellphone or dashcam footage, is being asked to contact the OPP.
