- Injured in an accident and unable to work: Individuals who cannot work are eligible to receive EI sick benefits or health benefits through their employer, such as short or long-term disability benefits. Those who are injured in a car accident, are also able to claim accident benefits and income replacement benefits through car insurance.
- Speak to a lawyer regarding a legal claim if injured by another party: It is important to remember that those injured through no fault of their own are able to file a legal claim through whoever caused the injury. There are notice provisions that are time sensitive that claimants should be aware of.
- Visiting doctor and treatment providers after an accident: At the time of the injury or incident, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible to have contemporary medical evidence for a legal claim. For those who do not seek medical treatment after the injury, it can be assumed by an insurance company that the injury or accident was not serious.
- Didn’t report an injury at a grocery store: After an incident occurs due to negligence, it is important to seek medical attention as well as report the incident as it occurs. Treatments and a loss of income can lead to significant financial difficulties and extra expenses that ultimately can be compensated through an insurance company.
