Show Notes
- Post-traumatic stress disorder but LTD ended after 4 years: Often when a new case manager or insurance adjuster is brought onto a particular file, the individual case is treated differently despite prior conduct and medical evidence. It is important for claimants to send updated medical records to their insurance adjuster throughout their time on long-term disability.
- Key steps when making a long-term disability claim: It is important for claimants to first ensure they have the support of their doctor and treating medical team that they are unable to work due to their disability. It is also essential for claimants to seek out treatment and continue to follow recommended advice by their doctors.
- Independent medical examinations by insurance company specialists: The opinion of a consultant or professional hired by the insurance company does not hold the same weight as a treating doctor. Despite this, claimants must attend an independent medical examination requested by the insurance company.
