Former Cineplex host claims he was paid in Scene points – 640 Toronto
“I was paid in Scene points,” the former host of Cineplex’s pre-movie show told media after being let go by Canada’s biggest movie theatre chain.
Tanner Zipchen told journalist Peter Nowak that he was paid with points instead of cash during his first year with the company, before fighting to be added to the payroll. His employment was terminated on Jan 13 after the chain was acquired by Cineworld.
Cineplex argues that Zipchen was given Scene points as a prize for winning the 2014 contest to become the theatre chain’s host.
