Canadian Employers Reportedly Struggling to Fill Open Roles in 2026
What’s Happening?
Canadian employers are having a harder time filling critical roles in 2026, according to a new Express Employment Professionals-Harris Poll survey.
Nearly one-third of respondents (32%) claimed they’re struggling to find the right fit for open positions, which is up from 29% in the fall of 2025.

“The mismatch between open jobs and available talent is not something businesses can afford to ignore,” Bob Funk Jr., CEO of Express Employment International, said in a news release on the findings.
“The right worker may not always arrive ready-made, but with the right training and support, they can become the right fit.”
However, 74% of respondents feel positive about their hiring outlook for the remainder of the year.
