“Major Cuts”: Epic Games Eliminating 1,000+ Jobs in March 2026
Is Epic Games Cutting Jobs?
Yes — Epic Games is eliminating more than 1,000 jobs, or around 20% of its workforce, as part of a restructuring.
“The downturn in Fortnite engagement that started in 2025 means we’re spending significantly more than we’re making, and we have to make major cuts to keep the company funded,” CEO Tim Sweeney said in a blog post on March 24, 2026.
“This layoff, together with over $500 million of identified cost savings in contracting, marketing, and closing some open roles puts us in a more stable place.”
Sweeney added that the workforce reduction isn’t fuelled by artificial intelligence (AI).
Impact on Canadian Staff
The exact number of Canadian employees being let go by Epic Games remains unclear.
According to LinkedIn, the company currently has more than 670 workers in the country.
