Vancouver’s Matchstick Coffee Closing All Stores After 14 Years: Employee Rights
What’s Happening at Matchstick Coffee?
Matchstick Coffee, a popular coffee shop chain in Vancouver, is set to shutter all of its stores after a 14-year run.
In a post on Instagram, the company claimed that it will close 3 of its 4 stores between March 1, 2026 and April 1, 2026.
“Our Davie Street location will remain open for the time being as we finalize plans for its closure in the near future,” the post reads.
“We are committed to supporting our staff through this transition with the respect, fair notice, and severance they deserve.”
The bombshell announcement comes after allegations of toxic workplace practices began to surface in 2020.
