Health Canada Layoffs: The Latest

Health Canada has joined the growing list of federal departments issuing layoff notices to staff in 2026 — with more than 1,000 employees reportedly receiving a workforce adjustment letter.

“Deep workforce cuts at Health Canada will weaken the systems Canadians rely on,” the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) warned in a statement.

The bombshell update comes as Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal government continues to scale back the size of the federal public service.
