Major 2026 Studies Examining LSD’s Effectiveness at Treating Anxiety

Further research into the psychedelic drug’s capabilities comes after a landmark trial in 2025 showed that a single 50-microgram dose relieved moderate to severe anxiety for at least 3 months.

“If the next trials do anything close to the previous one [in 2025], then it should be enough for the [US Food and Drug Association to approve LSD as a treatment option for anxiety],” Dr. Boris Heifets at Stanford University told New Scientist.

However, even if this year’s studies do yield similar results, experts believe it will probably take several years before LSD becomes widely accessible in the US — let alone globally.
