What’s Happening at Canada Post?

Embroiled in an ongoing labour dispute, Canada Post continues to restructure — eliminating dozens of management positions.

In a memo to staff, CEO Doug Ettinger said the “difficult decision” will allow the Crown corporation to align its management team “with the future needs of the organization.”

“We need to ensure our costs better align to our financial realities, which means our organization will be leaner at all levels going forward…To minimize the impact on our teams, we will continue to manage our workforce first through attrition while we maintain our external hiring freeze.”

Canada Post will reportedly share its path to financial sustainability with the federal government in the “next few weeks.”
