2 Women Dead Following Hwy. 17 Pickup Truck Crash Northwest of Ottawa

Two women are dead after a car and a pickup truck collided on Highway 17 near Renfrew, Ont. — a community northwest of Ottawa — on Oct. 1, 2025.

What Happened?

• According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident took place on the highway between Chenaux Road and Bruce Street around 12:45pm ET on Oct. 1.
• The occupants of the car, a 54-year-old woman and a 78-year-old woman from Val-des-Monts, were pronounced dead in hospital.
• No injuries were reported for the driver of the pickup truck.
• Highway 17 was temporarily closed in both directions between Chenaux Road and Bruce Street.

Investigation Updates

The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation. It’s unclear if charges are pending.
