5 Hospitalized After Pickup Trucks Collide on Hwy. 140 in Welland

On Aug. 28, 2025, 5 people were taken to hospital after a head-on collision involving 2 pickup trucks on Highway 140 in Welland — a community southwest of Niagara Falls.

What Happened?

• Emergency crews responded to reports of a serious crash on the highway, just north of Buchner Road, around 3pm ET on Aug. 28.
• Welland Fire Platoon Chief Steve McQueen told CHCH News a white pickup truck collided head-on with a silver pickup truck that was hauling a trailer carrying 4 horses.
• The occupants of both pickup trucks were taken to hospital. The horses were taken to a veterinarian for assessment.
• Motorists were asked to avoid the area.
